Srinagar December 25(KNS)The All Jammu & Kashmir Shia Association (AJKSA) expressed deep outrage and unequivocally condemned the reintroduction of Salman Rushdie's controversial book ‘The Satanic Verses’ into bookstores after 36 years. The association strongly urged the authorities to impose an immediate ban on the book, citing its blasphemous content and the potential to incite violence and disrupt communal harmony.
Speaking on behalf of the association, President Imran Raza Ansari stated, “The re-release of this offensive book is a direct affront to the sentiments of Muslims across the country. Its inflammatory content has previously led to widespread unrest, and its availability in stores threatens to reignite the same destructive consequences.”
The association further warned that such provocative literature undermines peace and poses a significant threat to the social fabric of the nation.

The AJKSA called on the government to prioritize national security and communal harmony by taking immediate action against the sale and distribution of the book. President Imran Raza Ansari further emphasized, “Freedom of expression should not come at the cost of social unrest or the emotional and religious sanctities of any community. The presence of this book in bookstores is a grave misstep, and we appeal to all right-thinking individuals to support its ban.”
