Sheikh Imran Calls for Separate State or UT Status for Kashmir

Srinagar March 07 (KNS): Sheikh Mohammed Imran, former Deputy Mayor of Srinagar, has strongly advocated for the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir, urging the formation of a separate state or Union Territory for Kashmir.

According to a statement issued to KNS reads that he highlights the stark differences between Jammu and Kashmir in terms of geography, climate, traditions, cuisine, language, and cultural heritage, stressing that the current governance framework fails to provide fair representation to both regions.

“The political structure today disproportionately favors Jammu, leaving Kashmir’s unique needs unaddressed,” said Sheikh Mohammed Imran. “This imbalance fosters misrepresentation, dishonesty, and regional discord, weakening our democratic process. The people of Kashmir deserve governance that reflects their distinct identity and aspirations.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He emphasizes that this is not a call for division but for justice and equitable administration. A separate state or UT status for Kashmir would eliminate governance conflicts, promote harmony, and ensure both Jammu and Kashmir flourish independently while remaining integral to the Indian Union.

“This is about ensuring that governance is fair, accountable, and reflective of the people’s needs,” he added. “By addressing misgovernance and political neglect, we can build a future where both Jammu and Kashmir thrive as proud Indians.”

Sheikh Mohammed Imran urges policymakers and the public to consider this restructuring as a step toward strengthening democracy, preventing regional strife, and fostering long-term stability and prosperity.(KNS)
