Handwara April 19 (KNS): Awami Itihad Party (AIP) leader and MLA Langate, Sheikh Khursheed, today expressed deep concern over the losses suffered by farmers due to a heavy hailstorm that struck several parts of North Kashmir’s Handwara and Langate areas.
In a statement, Sheikh Khursheed said the hailstorm has caused significant damage to orchards, impacting the livelihood of horticulturists in the region.
He urged the Omar Abdullah-led government to immediately dispatch revenue teams to the affected villages in Handwara and Langate to assess the extent of the damage.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“A proper compensation plan should be worked out at the earliest and distributed among the affected farmers without delay,” he said.
Despite heavy rains, MLA Sheikh Khursheed, accompanied by senior AIP workers, visited several affected areas of the Langate constituency to take stock of the situation and assured the residents of all possible support.
He also called upon the horticulture department to promptly issue advisories to farmers regarding necessary measures and upcoming spray schedules in light of the recent damage.(KNS)
