Seasonal shifts from summer to autumn and spring to summer often lead to rise in viral infections & allergies: Dir SKIMS

Srinagar, Oct 29 (KNS): The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) conducted a specialized program on Allergy and Pulmonology, focusing on respiratory and lung disorders commonly seen with seasonal changes. The event, held by the SKIMS Department of Pediatrics, aimed to educate medical professionals on managing seasonal respiratory issues effectively.

Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, Director of SKIMS, highlighted the relevance of this program, especially during the October season when respiratory illnesses spike. “In Kashmir, seasonal shifts from summer to autumn and spring to summer often lead to increased cases of viral infections and allergies.

During winter, bacterial infections also become more prevalent,” he noted. He added that elderly individuals face a higher risk of conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), while asthma and other allergic disorders often worsen during these times.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

It included presentations of new research papers, facilitating continuous medical education that could ultimately benefit patients dealing with respiratory disorders.

Dr. Ganie praised the initiative for enhancing knowledge and promoting better patient care within the medical community. The program was designed to equip healthcare providers with the latest tools and insights to manage respiratory illnesses more effectively, thereby supporting healthier communities across the region.(KNS)
