Srinagar, July 7 (KNS): Renowned social activist and national TV debater, Ahmad Ayaz, has written to the Government of India and the Hon'ble Lt Governor of J&K, highlighting the plight of former employees of the erstwhile Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) factory in Srinagar.
Ayaz has sought a special scheme to provide pensions or equivalent social security benefits to these affected individuals, who were unable to secure a pension under the EPFO scheme due to the disturbances in Jammu and Kashmir during the 1990s.
"These individuals have been unjustly overlooked for decades and are currently facing financial insecurity. It is the government's responsibility to ensure their welfare and provide them with the social safety net they deserve," Ayaz said in his letter.
