Sopore, Sep 10 (KNS): Sopore Law College, in collaboration with the Indian Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles, organised a symposium and awareness programme on women empowerment, leadership, resilience and national integration at the college auditorium here on Thursday.

The programme aimed to promote leadership values among youth, gender equality and awareness about social and legal issues concerning women.

The event was held under the administrative supervision of Sopore Law College Chairperson Maryam Bacha and Vice Chairperson Tamkeena Bacha.

Principal of Sopore Law College Sheikh Ishaq delivered the inaugural address and welcomed the delegation from 52 Rashtriya Rifles, led by the battalion’s Second-in-Command, along with special guest speaker Captain Dr Ankita.

Ishaq thanked the Army for its civic engagement initiatives and highlighted the role of youth, defence forces and the agrarian community in nation-building.

He also urged law students to understand the constitutional principles of gender equality and use legal knowledge and the rule of law as instruments of social change.

The technical and motivational session was conducted by Captain Dr Ankita from the medical wing of 52 RR, who spoke about perseverance, psychological resilience and career opportunities for young women.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Sharing her personal experience of joining the armed forces medical services, she said her first attempt to qualify for the service had been unsuccessful but the setback helped strengthen her determination.

“Struggle is not merely an obstacle in the pursuit of success; it is an absolute prerequisite for meaningful accomplishment,” she said.

She encouraged young women aspiring to join civil services, armed forces and the judiciary to remain consistent in their efforts and learn from setbacks.

During her address, Captain Dr Ankita also referred to women achievers including Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Dr Ruveda Salam, highlighting their professional journeys as examples of women breaking conventional barriers.

The programme was followed by an interactive session in which law students raised questions regarding career opportunities in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) department, preparation for competitive examinations and legal and institutional mechanisms for protection of women's rights.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the college administration.(KNS)
