Srinagar, Jan 3 (KNS): In a significant development for the railway sector in Jammu and Kashmir, a special inspection train is set to operate from Srinagar to Jammu on January 5, marking a historic milestone in the region's railway network. This milestone is part of the broader efforts to enhance connectivity in the Union Territory.
Sources confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce the establishment of the Jammu Railway Division via video conferencing on January 6. The Union Railway Minister is scheduled to visit the Srinagar Railway Station on January 5 to inspect the ongoing works under the USBRL (Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link) project, which is a key component of the Kashmir rail initiative.
Further inspections are scheduled for January 7 and 8, when Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) Dinesh Chand Deshwal will assess the Reasi-Katra section of the Kashmir rail project. This section, known for its challenging terrain, is a crucial link in the overall project aimed at improving transportation and economic opportunities in the region. (KNS)
