Srinagar, Oct 30 (KNS) : In commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel marking *Rashtriya Ekta Diwas*, District Police Srinagar organised two major events — *"Run for Unity”* and a seminar on *National Security* — in collaboration with the students of Islamia College, Hawal Srinagar, and Gandhi College, Baba Demb Srinagar.

The Run for Unity was flagged off from Islamia College, Hawal, and passed through Nowhatta, Jamia Masjid Road, and Khanyar before culminating at Gandhi College, Baba Demb Srinagar.
Faculty members, students from both colleges, and officers and officials of Srinagar Police actively participated in the event, symbolising the spirit of unity and togetherness.

Following the Unity Run, a seminar on National Security was held at Gandhi College, Baba Demb Srinagar. Students from both colleges spoke on the importance of national security and its role in safeguarding the nation’s integrity.

During the seminar, speakers highlighted the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel—unity, integrity, and national security—and discussed their relevance in modern nation-building.

In her address, she emphasised the importance of unity and national security and appreciated the growing bond between Police and students in organising such meaningful events. Other faculty members and staff from both institutions were also present.

Senior police officers, including SP North Srinagar, SDPO MR, SDPO Khanyar Dr. Azhar Rashid and all SHOs, DOs, PSIs, and police officials of the North Zone Srinagar Police participated in the events.

In his address, SP North Srinagar lauded the active participation of students and emphasised the crucial role of youth in promoting unity and peace, describing Sardar Patel as a true symbol of integrity and strength for the nation.

At the conclusion of the programme, cash prizes, trophies, and certificates were distributed among the participating students in recognition of their enthusiasm and contributions.

The successful conduct of both events reflected the enduring ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and further strengthened the bond between District Police Srinagar and the student community.(KNS)
