Srinagar Police Arrest Six Absconders After Years on the Run

 

Srinagar, October 18, (KNS): In a major breakthrough, Srinagar Police has arrested six long-time absconders who had been evading the law for several years, with some on the run for more than two decades. The arrests are part of an intensified crackdown on fugitives and proclaimed offenders across the district.

According to police, a special team was formed after receiving specific intelligence inputs. The team launched a targeted operation that led to the successful apprehension of the absconders, all of whom were wanted in various criminal cases registered at different police stations in Srinagar.

The arrested individuals include Mehraj-ud-Din Marazi of Sonwar, who was absconding for 11 years in a narcotics case registered at PS Lalbazar. Another accused, Arshid Ahmad Shoora of Bota Kadal (currently residing at Saidpora, Hazratbal), had been evading arrest for the past eight years in a case under the Negotiable Instruments Act.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelSimilarly, Habibulla Bhat, originally from Kralpora Kupwara and now living in Lalbazar, had been on the run for 27 years in a case registered at PS Shergarhi.

The list also includes Gowhar Ahmad Wani of Arigam, Budgam, who was wanted for four years in a theft attempt case, and Mashooq Ahmad Sheikh of Shopian, currently residing in Nowgam, who had been evading arrest in a theft case since 2009. Additionally, Uneeb Mukhtiyar Nathkhan of 90 Feet Road, Soura, was absconding for 16 years in another theft case registered at PS Shergarhi.

After completing all legal formalities, the arrested accused were produced before the Hon’ble Court in Srinagar. Police authorities stated that efforts will continue to trace and apprehend all individuals attempting to escape the justice system.

Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to enforcing the rule of law and ensuring that no offender remains beyond the reach of justice.
