Sringeri Shankaracharya Calls for Reopening of Sharda Peeth in PoK

Gurgaon, Nov 28 (KNS) :In a significant statement resonating across Kashmiri Pandit circles, Sringeri Shankaracharya H.H. Vidhushekhra Bharti on Thursday strongly advocated for the reopening of the historic Sharda Sarvagnya Peeth in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Addressing a large gathering of Kashmiri Pandits at Bani Dham Gaushala Temple in Gurgaon, the Shankaracharya said that the “struggle will continue”, reaffirming the community’s long-standing demand for access to the revered site.

During his visit, the Shankaracharya performed pushp archana at the proposed Sharda Temple site located on a hillock opposite the Bani Dham Temple. He also toured the Gaushala, jointly managed by the Banidham Gaushala and Kashmiri Pandit community, where nearly 1,000 cows are housed.

Marking the concluding day of his 20-day visit to Delhi NCR, this was the first occasion the Sringeri Shankaracharya addressed Kashmiri Pandits in the region—an event organised by the community itself.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

In his welcome address, Ravinder Pandita, President of All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), emphasised the need for a “religious corridor” to Sharda Peeth on the lines of the Kartarpur Corridor. He urged all four Sharda Mutts to jointly write to the Prime Minister seeking the reopening of the ancient temple.

Members of Banidham Gaushala, including Pt. Keshvanand, Madan , Ajay Pandita, Suneel Kachroo and Ashwini Pandita, accompanied the Shankaracharya during his tour. The event concluded with the presentation of Sharda shawls to the Shankaracharya and his entourage, followed by prasad vitran.(KNS)
