SSP Kupwara Honors Police Team for Securing Conviction in Major NDPS Case

Karnah Kupwara (KNS): An award ceremony was held today at the District Police Headquarters in Kupwara, where Ghulam Jeelani Wani-JKPS, SSP Kupwara, honored eight officers and personnel from District Police Kupwara with  Cash Rewards sanctioned by the Police Headquarters (PHQ) and  DGP’s Commendation Certificates.

This recognition was awarded for their diligent efforts in securing a conviction in Case FIR No. 56/2019 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act, which involved the significant seizure of 15 kilograms of brown sugar.

The investigation, led by Inspector Waseem Ahmad with the support of Assistant Public Prosecutor Ab Rashid Dar, Inspector Azad, and SI Zaffar, resulted in the conviction of two accused individuals. On August 28, 2023, the Hon'ble Court of Additional Sessions Judge (Fast Track Kupwara) found the accused guilty, and on September 5, 2023, sentenced them to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment, along with a fine of ?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel2 lakh each.

Talking with Kashmir News Service (KNS), SSP Ghulam Jeelani Wani expressed pride in the team's achievement. "This recognition is not only a testament to the dedication and hard work of our officers but also serves as a source of pride for their families and an inspiration for others in the force," he said. SSP Wani highlighted the significance of the case in the fight against narcotics, emphasizing that the successful conviction sends a strong message against drug-related offenses in the region.

He further added that the awards, sanctioned by PHQ, aim to boost the morale of the police personnel and encourage continued excellence in investigations. He extended his congratulations to the team and wished them success in their future endeavors to uphold law and order in the region.(KNS)
