Srinagar, Aug 23 (KNS): In preparation for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, security agencies are implementing stringent measures to guarantee a safe, fair, and orderly electoral process.
The elections, scheduled to begin in three phases starting September 18, will see heightened security compared to previous Lok Sabha elections.
A security official, who requested anonymity, stated, “We are deploying forces in numbers exceeding those used during the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year. Our goal is to provide robust protection for candidates and maintain peace throughout the campaign and voting phases.”
Additional Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will be stationed in strategic locations, as directed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). These units will be responsible for conducting sanitization operations and bolstering anti-terrorism measures, particularly following recent attacks in the Jammu region.
“CAPF units will be deployed wherever necessary to ensure order,” a source told KNS. “Their primary tasks will include reinforcing anti-terrorism efforts and preventing any disruptions.”
The security plan involves a comprehensive approach, with a focus on fortifying polling stations and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to manage potential emergencies.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelEnhanced surveillance will be employed to monitor individuals with a history of disruptive behavior.

To improve communication and reporting, police control rooms (PCRs) across the Union Territory will be upgraded. “We are committed to maintaining a high level of security to prevent any interference with the democratic process,” the official added.
Reflecting on the successful management of the Parliamentary elections earlier this year, officials are confident that the upcoming Assembly elections will proceed smoothly. “We are taking every precaution,” stated a senior police officer involved in the planning. “The safety of candidates and voters, and the integrity of the electoral process, are our top priorities.”(KNS)
