Bandipora, 14 Nov (KNS): Several students and their parents held a silent protest against the installation of the mobile tower at a school in north Kashmir's Bandipora district.

"It is unfortunate that on children's day we along with the children had to protest," a local Mohammad Sonuallah said outside Government Boys Middle School at Nusoo on Thursday.

He said BSNL cellular company was constructing a tower on the school premises which is "hugely hazardous for the young children."

"In today's age, everyone is aware of the ill effects the cellular tower possesses that too when it is being constructed near where school children are enrolled," he added.

One more villager, Abdul Rashid said the company was working at "odd times" without any knowledge of the village elders.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He said it was happening even when they had moved "applications to deputy commissioner Bandipora and Zonal education office Bandipora against the construction."

He added that even when the company too was intimated about the concerns of the locals and parents, they were not paying any heed and were and continued to move ahead with the construction.

Notably, former MLA Usman Majid also flagged the issue and criticized the authorities for allowing the construction on "school premises."

He demanded the administration to immediately cancel the permission for the safety of the school-going children. (KNS)
