Jammu, Dec 10 (KNS) : MLA Kulgam and CPI(M) leader M Y Tarigami visited the house of journalist Arfaz Ahmad Dang in Jammu, whose house was demolished recently, and also met Kuldeep Sharma, who donated land to Dang in a gesture of solidarity.

The Supreme Court judgment should have prevailed and that the mandatory notice period must have been followed. The law requires that even in cases of alleged illegal construction, a 15-day notice must be issued, examined and responded to. Here no notice was given and the basic right to shelter was violated. He added that people still do not know who ordered the demolition and under whose authority it was carried out.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelFacts must come into the public domain.

The CPI(M) leader urged the chief minister to constitute a committee for a time-bound probe. He said accountability should prevail and the family must be compensated for the losses. Senior people have visited them, but mere assurances are not enough and concrete action is required. The priority must be a proper inquiry, followed by rehabilitation for the family. He questioned the suffering caused to the aged parents and said the practice of pick and choose must end.

Tarigami said Kuldeep Sharma’s gesture has refreshed the true face of Jammu society by standing together in solidarity and brotherhood.(KNS
