Tensions Between India, Pakistan Have Always Existed; They’ll Figure It Out: Trump

Srinagar, April 26 (KNS): US President Donald Trump on Friday acknowledged the longstanding tensions between India and Pakistan, stating that the two nuclear-armed neighbors will eventually resolve their differences "one way or the other."

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Rome, Trump remarked, "I am very close to India and I’m very close to Pakistan, as you know. And they’ve had that fight for 1,000 years in Kashmir. Kashmir has been going on for 1,000 years, probably longer than that."

The remarks came in response to a query on the recent surge in hostilities following the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam area, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, mostly tourists.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe Resistance Front (TRF), believed to be a proxy of the banned Pakistan-based outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has claimed responsibility for the attack—the worst in the Valley since the Pulwama bombing in 2019.

Describing the incident as “a bad one,” Trump emphasized the historical context of Indo-Pak tensions, saying, "There have been tensions on that border for 1,500 years… the same as it’s been, but they’ll get it figured out. I’m sure. I know both leaders. There is great tension between Pakistan and India. But there always has been." (KNS)
