Srinagar June 04 (KNS): SSP Traffic Srinagar, Aijaz Ahmad (IPS), has announced the creation of a dedicated Media Cell to strengthen communication with the public and media regarding traffic updates, particularly during the Eid rush.
Speaking to reporters, SSP Aijaz Ahmad said the initiative aims to ensure timely dissemination of traffic-related information. “We want our message to reach people quickly through both electronic and print media. This platform will help us highlight issues and receive valuable feedback,” he stated.
According to KNS, the SSP emphasized that Bakra Eid presents additional challenges compared to Eid-ul-Fitr, mainly due to the buying and selling of sacrificial animals, especially in areas like Eidgah. “This creates significant traffic congestion. To manage this, we’ve deployed extra resources and activated our monitoring cell,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He urged citizens to cooperate with the traffic department, noting that all available personnel and vehicles are being used to manage the festive rush. “We expect traffic pressure to remain high till Eid, but it is under control with proper coordination,” he added.
Addressing the issue of diversions, Ahmad said Srinagar’s outdated road infrastructure and geographical limitations require flexible traffic plans. “Our roads haven’t expanded much over the years. Diversions are sometimes necessary depending on traffic flow during different times of the day,” he explained.
He concluded by saying that long-term solutions lie in both public cooperation and infrastructure development to improve overall traffic management in the city.(KNS)
