Union Home Secretary reviews high-level security meeting in Jammu

 Jammu, Jan 14 (KNS): Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting in Jammu to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on counter-terror operations, border management, and preparations for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, BSF Director General Praveen Kumar, CRPF Director General G P Singh, J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat, along with top army, police, civil administration, and intelligence officers.

Discussions covered ongoing counter-terror operations in hilly and forested districts of Jammu, including Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, and Udhampur, where recent encounters have taken place.

Security forces briefed the delegation on efforts to track and neutralize infiltrators, strengthen the anti-infiltration grid, and improve border management systems.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Officials noted an increase in drone sightings in border areas, with Pakistan-based handlers reportedly using drones to assess deployments and deliver consignments.

The Home Secretary emphasized heightened vigilance and inter-agency coordination to prevent any untoward incidents during Republic Day events.

The visit follows a security review chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on January 8 in New Delhi, reiterating the Centre’s policy of sustained action against terrorism and its infrastructure in the Union Territory.

Govind Mohan will continue consultations with security and administrative officials during his two-day stay.(KNS).
