Srinagar,Sept 27 (KNS) : Dr. Nayeem Showkat, Assistant professor at Media Education Research Centre, University of Kashmir participated as Speaker at the 2nd SCO Young Authors’ Conference, which recently concluded its two-day series of engaging discussions and presentations.
The conference, renowned for fostering dialogue among young writers and media enthusiasts from the SCO member countries, culminated in a compelling Valedictory Session. The session was presided over by Prof. Milind Sudhakar Marathe, Chairman of the National Book Trust (NBT), India. It commenced with a warm welcome address and featured inspiring experience-sharing segments from several young authors.
The highlight of the event was the address by the Chief Guest, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary (SE&L) at the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Several distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Alok A. Dimri, India’s SCO National Coordinator and Additional Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs, and Ms. Rakhanova Minara, Advisor at the SCO Secretariat, also shared their insights during the conference.
A key focus of the summit was the evolving landscape of media and digital communication. Dr. Nayeem Showkat delivered a thought-provoking presentation on the fragmentation of television audiences and the transition from traditional broadcasting to narrowcasting, driven by the rise of digital platforms. He highlighted the increasing prominence of niche digital audiences and the challenges and opportunities this shift presents.
It underscores India’s active engagement in regional media dialogues and highlights the vital role of academic voices in shaping the future of media and communication in the SCO region.(KNS)
