Srinagar, Jan 22 (KNS): The Meteorological department has forecasted unprecedented snowfall and rainfall from 24th Jan in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Director of Meteorological department Kashmir Sonam Lotus told KNS that, from 24 of this month we are expecting a good spell snowfall in Kashmir and heavy rainfall for Jammu rejoin.
“We are expecting a heavy snowfall from 24 of Jan in Kashmir valley and rainfall for Jammu region, including Doda and Pir Panjal area,” Sonam Lotus said.
Meanwhile the night temperature of Srinagar city improves and notches minus 1.3 degree Celsius than minus 3.3, in world famous ski resort Gulmarg, the temperature was recorded minus 6 degree. While as Srinagar receives .8mm snow today morning.
The 300 km, Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed on Sunday due to heavy snowfall at Banihal.
According to the Traffic control room the road has been closed and thousand vehicles are stranded on highway.

MeT department had earlier stated that Western Disturbances are approaching towards Kashmir and heavy snowfall may occur.

The divisional administration of Kashmir, has issued fresh weather warning in Kashmir valley. The District headquarters have asked to take all precautionary measures for the safety of people.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, and Kupwara, have setup control rooms and asked people to contact in need.
