Handwara, Jan 01 (KNS): A vehicle loaded with illicit timber was seized on Saturday evening by a team Forest department in Chak Baderhar village in Handwara area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that acting on a tip off about the movement of a vehicle with illicit timber in Rajwar range, a special team of officials under the command of Range officer Handwara operation intercepted the vehicle.
He added the offenders have been identified and further investigation in this regard has been taken up.
“The seized timber includes 7 logs of Kail, measuring 25cft and was being smuggled in a load carrier,” he said.
The official said they have lodged a complaint in the concerned police station for further action under law. (KNS)
