J&K Govt Implements Digital Signature Directive starting June 01

Srinagar, Apr 22 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has instructed all Administrative Departments, Heads of Departments (HoDs), Deputy Commissioners (DCs), and Managing Directors (MDs) of various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Boards, and Corporations to ensure that officers and officials use digital signatures (DSC) or Aadhar-based e-sign/e-hastakhshars for signing notes in the e-office starting from June 1, 2024.


As per the directive, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances,Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India, whilereviewing the status of implementation of e-office has made it mandatory for allofficers of the rank of dealing officers and above or equivalent to use DigitalSignature Certificates (DSCs) or Aadhaar based e-sign/e-Hastaakshar forelectronically signing the e-files in the e-office system before forwarding.

To achieve the objective of adopting digital working environment,reduce dependencies on physical documents, practicing of proper security measuresto ensure security in the cyber space and preventing the unauthorized access ofgovernment files in the e-office, it is imperative to have Digital Signature Certificatesor Aadhaar based e-sign/e-Hastakshar for electronically signing and processing of eoffice notes/proposals for approval in digital mode w.e.f. 01.06.2024, it added.


It further said that pursuant to the instructions of the Department of AdministrativeReforms & Public Grievances, Government of India and in provision of Section 3 ofthe Information Technology Act, 2000, it is enjoined upon all the AdministrativeDepartments/Head of Departments/Deputy Commissioners/Managing Directors ofvarious PSUs/Boards/Corporations to ensure that the officers/officials of theirarespective departments shall use Digital Signatures (DSC) or Aadhaar based esign/e-Hastaakshar as mode of signing notes in e-office w.e.f. 01.06.2024.


The necessary support, in this regard, shall be provided by the locale-office support team of JaKeGA and Information Technology Department. The usersshouldalsogo through the implementation guidelines documents athttps://docs.eoffice.gov.in or the handbook issued by JaKeGA vide No. JaKeGAGen/68/2021 dated 16.10.2023 in this regard, it added.(KNS)
