Terms it as ‘direct attack on culture, Sufism’

Srinagar, Nov 03 (KNS): Civil Society Forum Kashmir (CSFK) Friday expressed shock and anguish for the proposal of opening a controversial liquor shop at Srinagar Airport.
In a statement issued to KNS, CSFK condemned the decision of state Government.
CSFK asked government instead of liquor shop why does not Government open multinational chains like MacDonald’s/KFC/ Star Bucks/ Halidiram etc, which are very common among the tourist and travelers.
“Alcohol is one of the leading causes of deaths in the world,” they said.
CSFK said that it is a direct attack on the culture, Sufism and social fabric of Kashmir.
It appealed whole society to come forward and ensure no such outlet open in Kashmir Valley.
CSFK appealed to revoke the proposal for granting permission for opening of liquor shop at Srinagar international airport. “We further appeal government to invite & promote Multinational company outlet MacDonald’s, Pizza hut, KFC, star bucks instead of liquor shops,” the statement added. (KNS)
