Srinagar, Dec 5 (KNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood requires a big battle and collective efforts.
Speaking at an event at SKIMS, he reiterated the need for the central government to fulfill its promise to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir participated wholeheartedly in both parliamentary and assembly elections, not under any compulsion but with genuine hope. They believed that the promises made to them by PM and HM, particularly the restoration of statehood, would be honored. This is a big fight, and we will continue to push for it,” Abdullah said.
He highlighted the contributions of the people in ensuring the success of democratic processes in the region, stating, “The voters willingly came forward, showing faith in the electoral system, and now it is time to deliver on their expectations.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
Abdullah also pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been preoccupied with engagements in Maharashtra and Jharkhand but expressed optimism that the issue of statehood restoration would now receive the attention it deserves. “We hope the Prime Minister will soon address this matter and take steps to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood without further delay,” he added.
