‎Urges govt to allow payment of dues in instalments; says students, patients suffering

Srinagar, Oct 7 (KNS): Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir on Wednesday criticised the government over abrupt power disconnections, saying the move was putting financially weaker families under pressure and forcing them to clear outstanding dues in one go.
‎
‎Mir said recovery of pending electricity bills was necessary, but argued that the government should adopt a more considerate approach towards families unable to pay their dues at once.
‎
‎“Recovery is necessary, but don’t push people to the wall. Students and patients are suffering,” Mir said in a post on X.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

‎He said weaker sections of society should be given an option to clear their outstanding electricity bills through instalments instead of facing abrupt disconnections.
‎
‎“Show empathy, allow weaker families pay their power bills in instalments,” he said.
‎
‎Mir described the disconnections as an “aggression by the government” against poor families and urged the authorities to balance revenue recovery with the difficulties being faced by households with limited financial resources.(KNS)
