28 JKP Personnel Honoured with Gallantry and Service Medals on Republic Day

Srinagar, Jan 25 (KNS): A total of 28 personnel from Jammu and Kashmir have been recognized for their exemplary service and gallantry among 942 police, fire, home guard, civil defence, and correctional services personnel across the country. The awards were announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the occasion of Republic Day 2025.

Among the honorees, Additional Director General of Jammu & Kashmir, Nitish Kumar, and Anand Jain have been awarded the prestigious President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM).

Of the 95 Gallantry Awards (GM) presented nationwide, 28 were conferred upon personnel from Jammu and Kashmir, 28 from Left Wing Extremism-affected areas, three from the North-East, and 36 from other regions. The Gallantry Medal is awarded for exceptional bravery in life-saving efforts, crime prevention, and criminal apprehension in high-risk situations.

Out of the total Gallantry Medals awarded, 78 were presented to police personnel, while 17 were given to fire service personnel.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAdditionally, 101 personnel received the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), including 85 from police services, five from fire services, seven from civil defence and home guard services, and four from correctional services.

The Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM), which honors dedication and resourcefulness, was awarded to 746 personnel across various services, including 634 police personnel, 37 fire service personnel, 39 civil defence and home guard personnel, and 36 from correctional services.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the awards included 15 Gallantry Medals, two President’s Medals for Distinguished Service, and ten Medals for Meritorious Service. The Ladakh region also received two Medals for Meritorious Service.(KNS)
