New Delhi, May 26 (KNS): At least seven newborn babies died in a massive fire that broke out at a children's hospital in Delhi late Saturday, reports said.
Reports said Delhi Fire Services received a call about a fire at 11.32 pm at a baby care centre in the Vivek Vihar area in East Delhi, following which 16 fire tenders were rushed to the site.
They said that 12 newborns were rescued from the first floor of the building but seven died while getting treatment at the hospital.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and a case has been filed against the owner of the hospital.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the fire at the children's hospital was "heart-rendering".
"The causes of the incident are being investigated and whoever is responsible for this negligence will not be spared," he posted on X. (KNS)
