This move has brought relief to families across India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, who have expressed deep concern for the safety of students amid a deteriorating security environment in Iran.
Their concern was highlighted on Thursday when a group of parents gathered at the office of the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, to submit a memorandum urging immediate government intervention for the students' repatriation. The appeal follows a recent advisory from the Indian Embassy in Tehran recommending that all Indian nationals leave Iran at the earliest opportunity.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed he had discussed the matter with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. Abdullah stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation and that the MEA is formulating a comprehensive evacuation plan. He thanked the Ministry for its proactive steps and assurances regarding the safety of Indian citizens from the region. (KNS)
