CCIK Appeals for Power, Water, and Road Restoration After Snowfall

Srinagar: In view of the recent snowfall, the Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kashmir (CCIK) on Friday urged the administration to immediately focus on restoring essential services, particularly electricity, road connectivity, drinking water supply, and air services.

President CCIK, Tariq Ghani, said priority roads should be cleared on a war footing, followed by restoration of power supply and smooth functioning of air services to ensure minimal inconvenience to the public.

He said people had been eagerly waiting for this snowfall and expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah that although it arrived late, it came at the right time. Ghani also highlighted that gusty winds accompanying the snowfall have caused damage to several houses, and appealed to the authorities to extend immediate relief and assistance to affected families so that common people do not suffer during the harsh winter.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Ghani emphasized that timely snowfall is crucial, as sudden melting can create serious problems. He expressed hope that more snowfall will follow in the coming days, benefiting water resources, agriculture, and horticulture.

The CCIK President also thanked the Honourable Chief Minister for holding consultations with stakeholders from industry, horticulture, agriculture, tourism, higher education, and other sectors. He expressed hope that the suggestions and recommendations put forward during these consultations will be duly considered while finalising the upcoming budget.

CCIK noted that snowfall will not only boost tourism in the Valley but also strengthen the overall economy of Kashmir. Winter games, snow-based activities, and events like Khelo India are expected to add further attraction for tourists visiting the region.
