Srinagar, September 26 (KNS): National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that the Central govt is using voter turnout to misrepresent public sentiment.
"The turnout is being used by the Government of India to claim that people are happy and satisfied, but this is not the reality," Omar Abdullah told reporters.
He said that the government should be held accountable for the lower participation in Srinagar and nearby areas compared to the 2014 elections. "It is the central government’s fault that turnout is less this time," he added.
He also expressed disappointment with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Amit Shah for neglecting the sacrifices made by National Conference (NC) workers.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"We do not expect anything different from the BJP, but the National Conference has made thousands of sacrifices over the last 35 years," he said. "If we had to follow the agenda of Pakistan, we would have done so 35 years ago. More than 4,500 of my colleagues would not have sacrificed themselves," he further said.
Omar said that if Home Minister Amit Shah chooses to ignore these sacrifices, there is nothing he can do. "If Amit Shah wants to ignore the sacrifices of National Conference, what can I do about it?" he added.(KNS)
