CEO P.K. Pole expects high voter turnout in third phase of Assembly Elections

Srinagar, Sep 26 (KNS): P.K. Pole, the Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir, expressed optimism about the upcoming third phase of Assembly polls, anticipating high voter participation based on the momentum from the first two phases.


Speaking to reporters in Bandipora, Pole highlighted the peaceful conduct of the earlier elections and reassured the public of robust arrangements for the upcoming vote on October 1.


“The first two phases occurred peacefully in the Valley thanks to the cooperation of the people and the security forces who maintained order,” Pole stated.
He emphasized that the electoral process has been embraced by the citizens, who are increasingly eager to engage in the democratic process. “People now wait in long queues to cast their votes and participate in this festival of democracy,” he added.


Pole provided details about the preparations for the polls, mentioning that “we have set up 312 polling stations in Bandipora district, and the Election Commission of India has completed all formalities for the elections.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
His visit to the border areas earlier in the day reassured him of the community’s readiness, as he noted, “People are eagerly waiting for election day.”


Regarding potential disruptions, particularly in the border areas of north Kashmir, Pole stated that the administration is well-prepared with a contingency plan. “If any disruption happens during the election in these areas, we are ready with Plan-B,” he assured, underscoring the administration's commitment to ensuring a smooth electoral process.
Pole also conveyed confidence in the security situation, asserting, “Our borders are peaceful, and we hope it will remain so on poll day.”


As the countdown to the third phase begins, the enthusiasm among voters in Jammu and Kashmir remains palpable, with the hope that this phase will mirror the successful turnout seen in previous rounds.
The efforts of the Election Commission, coupled with the engagement of the local populace, are expected to contribute to a vibrant electoral atmosphere on October 1.(KNS)
