Srinagar, Sep 4 (KNS) Amid escalating protests by medical interns across the Kashmir Valley, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Friday said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is currently out of the region and is expected to return only on Monday.
In a statement issued to KNS, JKSA national spokesperson Dr Zubair Reshi said the Chief Minister's Advisor, Nasir Sogami, will meet a delegation of agitating MBBS interns later today at the Chief Minister's Office.
"We had sought time for a detailed discussion and deliberation on the issues being raised by the interns, particularly their long-pending and legitimate demand regarding stipend revision and other related concerns," Dr Reshi said.

He said the meeting would provide an opportunity for the representatives to place their grievances before the authorities and explore a "constructive and time-bound" way forward.
"We remain hopeful that the discussions will help facilitate an early and satisfactory resolution to the genuine concerns of the interns," the JKSA spokesperson added.
The clarification comes against the backdrop of protests by MBBS and BDS interns across various government medical colleges in the Valley, who have been demanding a hike in monthly stipends and improved working conditions. (KNS)
