Jammu, December 18 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Congress unit staged protests outside the Raj Bhawan in Jammu to press for its demand for the immediate restoration of statehood for the J&K, action against Adani, demand of normalcy in Manipur.

Addressing the media during the demonstration, J&K Congress Chief 

Tariq Karra led the protest in Jammu and tried for Raj Bhawan Gharo which was foiled.Similarly congress party also held a protest demonstration was held by the party in Srinagar.

 

 The Congress party raised a range of pressing issues, including corruption, economic mismanagement, and law and order concerns in Manipur, alongside the demand for statehood.

 

Karra criticized the central government for failing to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, a move he said was essential for the J&K’s progress and dignity. 

 

He accused the government of punishing the people by keeping the J&K in administrative limbo. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve their rightful statehood, which has been denied to them for far too long,” he said. 

 

Karra also expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court for ensuring the conduct of elections in the region but questioned the government's reluctance to restore statehood despite repeated promises in and outside Parliament.

 

Karra accused the central government of fostering a “generation of corruption,” suggesting that it has turned a blind eye to rampant irregularities.

 

 He also pointed to administrative confusion in Jammu and Kashmir, where officers are uncertain about their chain of command—whether under the Governor or the Chief Minister.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“This lack of clarity has allowed the bureaucracy to exploit the situation, with some acting within the law and others blatantly disregarding it, increasing hardships for the common people,” Karra alleged.

 

Karra called on the Prime Minister and Home Minister to fulfill the promises made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. 

 

He warned that the Congress would escalate its agitation if statehood is not restored soon. “The promises made on the land of Jammu and Kashmir must be honored, or the government will face intensified protests,” he asserted.

The Congress leader also took aim at the Adani Group, accusing it of financial irregularities on national and international levels vindicated by US Justice Department.

 

 Karra criticized the government for failing to act against the conglomerate despite allegations of fraud and misrepresentation, which he claimed were affecting small investors and damaging the economy.

 He warned of the cascading effects of such economic mismanagement, citing rising unemployment as one of the consequences.

 

Questioning the government’s ability to protect the lives and property of citizens in Manipur, Karra condemned the increasing incidents of violence and lawlessness. “If the government cannot ensure safety, it has no right to remain in power,” he said according to KNS correspondent.

 

Karra also raised concerns over remarks allegedly made by the Home Minister regarding Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, which he described as disrespectful. He affirmed that the Congress would continue its protests on this matter to ensure accountability. (KNS)
