Bandipora, 15 July (KNS) :In a determined effort to tackle the rising traffic congestion in Bandipora town, the enforcement team of the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Bandipora, under the supervision of ARTO Mudasir Ahmad (JKAS) along with traffic police, conducted a comprehensive enforcement drive on Tuesday.

The operation led to the issuance of 54 electronic challans, with a total fine of ?38,000 being realised on the spot. The drive primarily targeted violations by Sumo, Auto, and Mini Bus stand operators, many of whom were found flouting transport and traffic regulations.

Officials from the ARTO office, in coordination with the Traffic Police, carried out an extensive tour of Bandipora town, identifying key bottlenecks and initiating measures to restore smooth vehicular movement, particularly around hospital routes and market zones. Issues such as wrong parking, unregulated auto stands, and congestion near emergency corridors were promptly addressed.

During the drive, the ARTO office also engaged with various stakeholders, including transporters and stand operators, urging them to strictly adhere to the Motor Vehicles Act.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelIt was clearly conveyed that no further violations will be tolerated, and strict legal action will follow in the case of repeated offences.

We request citizens and transporters alike to support the administration in maintaining order on the roads,” he said.

The enforcement drive is part of a broader initiative to streamline traffic movement, especially around critical areas like the District Hospital, where congestion often hampers the smooth passage of ambulances and emergency services.

The administration has assured that such drives will continue regularly, and follow-up actions will be taken to maintain discipline and public safety on the roads of Bandipora. (KNS)
