Srinagar, Dec 18(KNS):The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today staged a massive protest in Srinagar, calling for accountability from the BJP Led Central Government over the Adani mega corruption scandal and other critical issues. The protestors also denounced the deteriorating situation in Manipur and criticized the Home Minister’s recent remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, terming them a direct affront to the principles of the Indian Constitution.
The protest underscored allegations of multiple scams involving the Adani Group, including irregularities within the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (JKPDCL). Protestors accused the Central Government of prioritizing corporate interests over public welfare and demanded the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the Adani corruption allegations.
Despite the peaceful nature of the protest, the police prevented the Congress leaders and workers from marching towards Raj Bhavan, forcibly pushing them inside party headquarters.
Abid Kashmiri, General Secretary of the Party HQ Srinagar, stated "The Adani Group’s involvement in various scams, including irregularities in JKPDCL projects, is a glaring example of the crony capitalism fostered by this government. The people of Jammu and Kashmir want answers. JKPCC firmly demands a JPC probe to uncover the truth and hold the culprits accountable."
