Srinagar, Apr 5 (KNS): Congress on Saturday urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to involve the elected Jammu and Kashmir government in all key decisions during his upcoming visit.
Nizamuddin Bhat, Congress MLA from Bandipora, said the government has a clear public mandate and must not be sidelined in matters concerning the Union Territory.
“A popular government is in place, which is a victory for democracy. Even if something is advisory, it shouldn’t bypass the elected government,” Bhat told reporters.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said the Centre and Raj Bhavan are free to act within their rights, but any initiative or review concerning the state must include the local government.
“That’s not just constitutional—it’s ethical and politically necessary,” Bhat added.
