Jammu, Apr 05 (KNS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah is now expected to arrive in Jammu on Sunday for a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, with a strong focus on security assessment and inauguration of key developmental projects, sources said.
Originally scheduled for April 7, the visit has been advanced by a day, reportedly due to the urgency of addressing the evolving security dynamics in the Union Territory.
According to reports, Shah is slated to arrive Sunday afternoon, and will chair two high-level security review meetings, along with a separate session involving BJP leaders.
Sources indicate the Home Minister will likely lead a Unified Headquarters meeting, covering topics such as counter-terrorism efforts, border security, and infiltration threats. The meetings will be attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, top officials from the Home Ministry, Army, paramilitary forces, J&K Police, intelligence agencies, and the civil administration.
A key focus remains Shah’s consistent directive for achieving "zero infiltration" along the LoC and International Border. Officials said Shah is expected to emphasize the dismantling of overground networks aiding terrorists and the narco-funding channels supporting their operations.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Shah’s itinerary includes a visit to forward areas along the IB to assess troop readiness and boost morale, as well as a meeting with families of fallen police personnel, including those who died in the Kathua encounter.
In parallel, the Home Minister will virtually inaugurate and lay foundation stones for various development projects across J&K. He will also meet with BJP legislators on April 6 to review the ongoing Assembly Budget Session, party performance, and the political climate.
Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS in the PMO, is expected to join the deliberations.
On April 7, Shah is expected to travel to Srinagar and hold additional meetings before concluding the visit on April 8.
This visit comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s expected arrival on April 19 to inaugurate the first train service to Kashmir from Katra, prompting intensified security arrangements throughout the region.(KNS)
