Contractors Await Payments to Make JJM Schemes Functional

Bandipora, March 5 (KNS): The Bandipora Contractors Association has expressed concerns over delayed payments under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), stating that completed projects remain non-functional due to unpaid dues.

The association’s president, Naseer Ahmad Mir, while addressing a press conference in Bandipora stated that all JJM schemes in the district have been completed, but contractors are unable to proceed with operationalization due to pending bills.

Mir emphasized that if the government releases the payments, all JJM schemes could be made functional within ten days, ensuring proper water supply to the residents.

He further criticized the recent statement made by the MLA Bandipora in the Assembly, where the legislator claimed that many schemes under JJM had failed.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Dismissing the MLA’s claims, Mir accused him of misleading the House. “The reality is that contractors have finished their work, but payments are being withheld. How can the schemes be operational without the necessary financial clearances?” he questioned.

The contractors have urged the administration to address the issue immediately, warning that further delays in payments will continue to affect the implementation of JJM and deprive people of essential water supply services. (KNS)
