Srinagar, March 11 (KNS): “Let the police station- its officers and personnel become the guardian of rule of law, peace, prosperity and well-being. Let the police personnel of this police station become the watchdog of the lives, limbs and property of the ordinary citizens. Let the new chapter begin for the 12 villages for which this police station has been set up”. This was written by the Director General of Police J&K R.R Swain in the Gazetted Officers Register after the inauguration of the new Police Post Rahmoo in Pulwama.
Besides inaugurating of the new Police Post the DGP addressed a public rally at Rohmo, chaired jurisdictional Police officers meeting at District Police Lines Pulwama and also interactedwith civil societymembers at Pulwama.He was accompanied by ADGP Law & Order Vijay Kumar to Rohmo while IGP Kashmir V K Birdi received the DGP at Pulwama.
Soon after the inauguration of the DGP J&K inspected the infrastructure of the newly constructed Police Post. He also interacted with the officers and personnel posted and emphasised upon them to deliver top-class policing services to the common citizens of the area. He directed for practising friendly behaviour with the needy people and be tough against the inimical elements.
Addressing the public meeting at Rahmoo after the inauguration, the DGP J&K said that J&K Police is making all efforts to give safe and secure environment to its citizens. He said that Police and other security forces deployed are for the welfare of the people and larger betterment of the society. He said that if any officer or official can’t win the trust of citizen, then there is some fault in policing, adding that few men from the society are privileged to don the uniform which is meant to serve people take care of their safety and security. He said that policing is different from other professions as police as well as other security personnel have to take stringent action against some inimical elements within the society for the larger benefit of the other people living in the same society. Giving assurance for enhancing and providing better policing services, the DGP urged the people to come forward and faclitate police, security forces in delivering better services.

Speaking to the media the DGP J&K said that there is no doubt about the connection between narcotics and terrorism they are working hand in glove. He said that narco terrorism has emerged as a challenge as it is being used like oxygen for revival of terrorism which is almost about to die. After investigating and filing chargesheet of narcotic cases, it has come to fore that elements from across the border who are sending narcotic consignments are terror handlers, terror coordinators and are connected with LeT, Al badr and other terror outfits. The money earned from the poor people of J&K by trapping them in drug abuse is used for terror activities, he said. The DGP said that the war to fight the menace of narcotics can not be won without the support of citizens. The people have to come forward and help their own police in uprooting this evil from the territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that there are strategies in place to differentiate between the victims, consumers and those who are making money from it. He said that stringent action will be taken against those found involved in narcotics trade who ever that will be. DGP said that Samba Police has taken an exemplary step in the recent time by attaching and seizing the property drug handlers. Regarding the elections, the DGP said that J&K Police along with other security forces are ready and duty bound to provide congenial atmosphere for the voters whenever they are announced.
Later the DGP J&K reviewed the security scenario of the district in a meeting with the jurisdictional police officers. SP Pulwama gave a Power Point presentation about the functioning of the jurisdictional police and measures taken by the district on different fronts.
The meeting was attended by IGP Kashmir Shri V K Birdi, DIG SKR Shri Altaf Ahmad Khan, AIG Training & Policy PHQ Shri Manoj Kumar Pandith, SP Pulwama Ms PD Nitya and other jurisdictional police officers.
The DGP J&K also met with some civil society members of the Pulwama district. He gave patient listing to their grievances and assured redressal of genuine issues. He appreciated the role of people in the prevailing peace and safety of the area.(KNS)
