Srinagar, December 27(KNS): The Food Safety Department, led by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar, Mr. Yameen ul Nabi, conducted surprise inspections at Nanwaei (Kashmiri roti) shops and Harisa vendors across Srinagar today. The inspections, aimed at ensuring food safety standards, were carried out in collaboration with the ICLC team.
During the surprise checks, the team collected samples for laboratory analysis to assess the quality and safety of the food items being sold. In addition, nine Food Business Operators (FBOs) were identified for violations and were penalized under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act. Each vendor was imposed a fine of Rs. 3,000 for failing to comply with hygiene and food safety regulations.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yameen ul Nabi emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of hygiene and sanitary conditions at food establishments. He reiterated that food business operators must adhere to all food safety guidelines to ensure the health and safety of consumers. He also warned that any failure to comply with the regulations will result in strict actions under the FSS Act.
The Food Safety Department remains committed to ensuring the public's health by enforcing food safety standards and will continue to carry out surprise inspections across the city.(KNS)
