Baramulla, May 28 (KNS): In a joint operation, the Forest Protection Force (FPF) Baramulla and the Forest Department seized a vehicle carrying illegal timber in the Hajibal area of Baramulla district.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Conservator North Kashmir, IFS Irfan Ali Shah, and Divisional Forest Officer FPF Baramulla, Javid Rehman.
Acting on a tip-off, a checkpoint was set up at Faqeer Wani Road (Hajibal–Baramulla) during the night of May 27 and 28. The team intercepted a load carrier (vehicle number JK04C/3535) transporting 8 logs of Deodar timber, measuring 37 cubic feet, without legal permission.
The timber and the vehicle have been seized for further investigation.
This successful operation highlights the Forest Department’s and FPF’s ongoing efforts to protect forest resources and prevent illegal logging. Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious or illegal activity related to forest products.(KNS)
