NLCO Restores Jablipora Spring Under ‘Mission Ehsaas’

Bijbehara, May 26 (KNS): In a continuing effort to revive Kashmir’s fragile water ecosystem, the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) on Sunday launched the restoration of Spring No. 13 at Jablipora, Bijbehara under its flagship initiative, Mission Ehsaas.

The initiative was inaugurated by Dr. Bashir Veeri, Hon’ble MLA Bijbehara, in presence of Dr. Raja Muzaffar Bhat, GM Lone, Chairman Birla Open Minds Pampore, government officials, civil society members, and volunteers.

The restoration drive was inspired by a viral video by young Furkan, a local boy who highlighted the spring’s deteriorating condition. Promptly shared by Dr. Veeri and coordinated by Dr. Muzaffar, the video prompted immediate action from NLCO.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Speaking on the occasion, Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, Chairman NLCO, lauded the collective effort. “This is a fine example of how one voice can lead to a larger movement. Mission Ehsaas is about awareness, ownership, and ecological revival,” he said.

Later, a community awareness programme was held at Community Hall, Bijbehara with participation from government officials, civil society members, and volunteers, aimed at promoting waterbody conservation and environmental responsibility.

Notably, this marks the 13th spring restored under Mission Ehsaas, reinforcing NLCO’s commitment to reviving Kashmir’s vanishing freshwater legacy. (KNS)
