Srinagar, July 23 (KNS) : President of the People's Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, on Wednesday condemned the assault on a doctor at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar. The doctor, a postgraduate in Medicine Unit-2 and specially-abled, was reportedly attacked during his emergency duty on Tuesday night.
In a ststement Hakeem Yaseen said such acts of violence against medical professionals are unacceptable and must be dealt with firmly. He said doctors and healthcare workers continue to serve people under pressure, especially in emergencies, and any form of aggression towards them should not be tolerated.
He urged the hospital authorities and police to take strict action against the person involved in the assault and ensure that such incidents do not happen again.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe also stressed the need for better security arrangements in hospitals, particularly in emergency wards.
Hakeem Yaseen further demanded that the doctor be given full support by the health department and hospital administration, including medical, legal, and psychological help if required.
He appealed to the public, civil society, and political leadership to stand in support of doctors and ensure their safety at workplaces. He said such incidents damage the trust between doctors and patients and affect the overall healthcare system.(KNS)
