Srinagar, Oct 1 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and former minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Thursday urged the administration to ensure comprehensive arrangements for the annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Aalam Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA) at Charar-i-Sharief, beginning October 7.
Yaseen said thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir are expected to visit the shrine and called for adequate arrangements for their safety, convenience and smooth movement. He stressed coordination among departments concerned, including Traffic Police, Roads and Buildings, Jal Shakti, Power Development Department, Health Department and local municipal bodies.
He called for a comprehensive traffic management plan around Charar-i-Sharief and deployment of additional passenger buses on key routes, particularly Srinagar-Charar-i-Sharief, Budgam-Charar-i-Sharief and Pulwama-Charar-i-Sharief. He also urged the administration to undertake special sanitation drives and ensure regular cleaning of the shrine premises, prayer halls, ablution areas, roads and adjoining localities.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Yaseen stressed the need for uninterrupted drinking water and power supply besides adequate healthcare facilities. He suggested setting up first-aid and medical assistance camps at strategic locations along routes leading to Charar-i-Sharief to deal with emergencies.
He also urged authorities to ensure proper road connectivity and remove obstructions that could hamper the movement of devotees.
Describing the annual Urs of Sheikh-ul-Aalam, revered as Alamdar-e-Kashmir, as an event of immense spiritual and cultural significance, Yaseen appealed to local residents, shopkeepers and community members to cooperate with the administration in maintaining cleanliness, discipline and the sanctity of the shrine.
He also prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)
