Handwara, Dec 10 (KNS): In an effort to combat the growing menace of drug trafficking, Handwara Police has detained Manzoor Ahmad Shah, son of Saif Ud Deen Shah and a resident of Gund Moomin, under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988 (PIT NDPS).
Shah, a key figure in a drug trafficking syndicate, has been actively involved in pushing youth towards substance abuse, significantly harming the social fabric of the region. His criminal record includes multiple cases registered against him for narcotic-related offenses.

Despite prior legal action, Shah continued his involvement in illicit activities, leading authorities to initiate detention proceedings under the PIT NDPS Act. A detention warrant under Section 3 of the Act was received and executed today, with Shah taken into custody for further action.
Handwara Police reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking in the region. It pledged to take strict measures against individuals involved in such activities to safeguard the youth and promote a drug-free society. (KNS)
