Kupwara, Jan 23 (KNS) Normal life was thrown out of gear as heavy snowfall lashed the Kashmir valley on Thursday, with the frontier district of Kupwara experiencing intense snowfall from upper to lower reaches, officials said.
The continuous snowfall has severely impacted traffic movement and connectivity across the region.
Talking to News Agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), Executive Engineer, Mechanical Department, Kupwara, said the department is keeping a close watch on the situation.
He said around 20 snow-clearing machines have been deployed to clear major and priority roads to restore essential connectivity.
"Once the main roads are cleared, the second phase will focus on clearing all link roads across Kupwara," he added.
Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary travel till the weather improves. (KNS)
