Kangan, 02 Feb(KNS): An unfortunate road accident occurred on the SSG Road near Hariganiwan, Kangan, when a goods carrier (HGV) bearing registration number JK05L-3499 skidded off the road and plunged downwards, crashing into an old residential house belonging to Ghulam Din Khattana, S/o Mohammad Din Khattana, R/o Hariganiwan.
The mishap resulted in extensive damage to the house and left the driver, Sameer Ahmad Lone, S/o Ghulam Mohammad Lone, R/o Chuntimulla Bandipora, critically injured. He was immediately rushed to SDH Kangan and later referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.
As per a neighbour, Bilal Ahmad Lone, the deceased Sameer Ahmad Lone belonged to a poor family and worked as a professional driver to support his household. He was widely known for his kind nature, humility, and helping attitude, earning respect and affection from people across his area.
News of his death spread rapidly, plunging his native village into deep mourning. Hundreds of people poured onto the roads, expressing shock and grief over the tragic loss. Scenes of anguish were witnessed as women were seen beating their chests, mourning the untimely demise of the young breadwinner.(KNS).
