New Delhi, July 23 (KNS): The Centre has extended the closure of Indian airspace to Pakistani aircraft until August 23, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol confirmed on Tuesday.
Mohol said the step is based on “strategic considerations” and in line with security protocols. The previous Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was set to expire on July 24.
India first imposed the restriction on April 30 after the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, including a foreign national.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelFollowing the attack, India also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, closed the Attari border crossing, downgraded diplomatic ties, and launched Operation Sindoor targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan.
A detailed discussion on Operation Sindoor is expected in Parliament next week during the monsoon session. Opposition parties have demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence for the debate.(KNS)
