Jammu & Kashmir Stuns Mumbai with Historic Win in Ranji Trophy

Srinagar, Jan 25 (KNS): Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) pulled off a remarkable five-wicket victory over Mumbai in the latest Ranji Trophy encounter, continuing their rise as giant killers in domestic cricket. The victory, achieved at the Sharad Pawar Academy in BKC, has stunned the cricketing world, as J&K became the only team to have beaten Mumbai twice in the competition over the past decade.

In a dramatic finish, J&K bowled out Mumbai for just 290 in their second innings, with impressive contributions from pacers Yudhvir Singh, Auqib Nabi, and Umar Nazir, who took a combined total of 19 wickets in the match. Yudhvir, who was named Player of the Match, was particularly outstanding with figures of 7 for 95, keeping Mumbai’s star-studded lineup on edge throughout the game.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Chasing a target of 205, J&K faced some tense moments after an early loss of wickets. However, vital contributions from opener Shubham Khajuria (45), Yawer Hussain (24), and middle-order batsmen Vivrant Sharma (38) and Abid Mushtaq (38) steadied the ship. Mushtaq's game-winning six against Tanish Kotian sealed the victory for J&K, who reached their target just before tea.

This victory is particularly sweet for J&K as Mumbai fielded a full-strength team, including Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, and Ajinkya Rahane. Mumbai’s defeat has severely impacted their knockout chances, while J&K’s win has propelled them to the top of Group A, with 29 points from six matches (KNS)
