Srinagar, May 29 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Council held an important Executive Body meeting today at its headquarters in Srinagar, chaired by Council President Advocate Abdul Rashid Hanjura. The meeting focused on improving the organization’s functioning and planning for future activities.
The Council also expanded its team with several new appointments to strengthen operations. Javed Kirmani was appointed as Secretary Information and Spokesperson, while Sufi Ali Mohammad was reappointed as Finance Secretary. Bilal Furqan was made Secretary and will support General Secretary Javed Mattoo. Nazim Nazir was put in charge of social media platforms.
A Program Committee was formed under the leadership of Vice President Professor Hameed Naseem Rafiabadi, which will prepare an annual calendar of events. The Council also decided to create an Advisory Board to include former members and Urdu language enthusiasts who will offer guidance for promoting Urdu. The names for this board are being finalized.
To expand its work across Jammu and Kashmir, the Council appointed coordinators in several districts including Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla, Pulwama, Budgam, and Ganderbal. More district coordinators will be named soon.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that the Council’s financial accounts will be audited by Bisma & Company, with the Finance Secretary assigned to handle the process. Senior members, including President Hanjura, Vice President Professor Naseem, General Secretary Javed Mattoo, and others, were present and shared valuable suggestions.(KNS
