Saroori filed a complaint for offence under Section 499 of the Indian Penal Code (defamation), claiming that Malik used 'filthy, malicious and defamatory language' against him in viral video clips circulated on social media.
On June 4, 2024, the Court took cognizance of the case, issued summons to Malik and directed him to appear before the Court on July 20, 2024.
However, Malik failed to appear prompting the Court to eventually issue a non-bailable warrant on March 17.
The matter will be heard next on May 14 when the Court will review compliance with the warrant.
